Remodeled Fischer Platz in Frankenmuth open for summer fun

Bavarian Inn Restaurant offers unique outdoor entertainment along with food and drink

FRANKENMUTH, Mich. – June 30, 2022 – The Bavarian Inn’s own answer to a German biergarten, the remodeled Fischer Platz, is open for outdoor summer fun in the heart of Frankenmuth with a special entertainment line-up.

The Fischer Platz, which faces Main Street, features live entertainment, draft and bottled beer (including plenty of German varieties), as well as an updated food menu that includes fresh baked pretzels, popcorn, spaetzle and other German favorites.

In addition to Linda Lee daily performances beginning at 2 p.m., the Fischer Platz hosts featured bands on Fridays, and special events on Saturdays. Karaoke is also available every Saturday from 9:30-11 p.m.

For a full schedule of entertainment check out this exciting line-up.

The Fischer Platz is open: Monday from 12-6 p.m., Wednesday and Thursday from 12-9 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 12-11 p.m., and every Sunday from 12-8 p.m. The Fischer Platz is closed on Tuesdays, and closes for the season on Sept. 18.

During its upgrade last year the Fischer Platz was updated with a new outdoor surface (with a portable dance floor), a revamped entertainment schedule that features free performances and a new menu for guests who enjoy the outdoor setting.

The outdoor biergarten is named after the Fischer family who first developed a restaurant in Frankenmuth. Later they sold the restaurant to William “Tiny” Zehnder’s family, who today run the Bavarian Inn Restaurant, the Bavarian Inn Lodge and the River Place shops.

Bavarian Inn Restaurant introduces ‘Matriarch Bourbon’

Bourbon honoring Dorothy Zehnder will be available March 4

FRANKENMUTH, Mich. – Feb. 17, 2022 –  Bourbon lovers will get a chance to sip a new “Matriarch Legacy 100” bourbon at the Bavarian Inn Restaurant starting Friday, March 4.

The “Legacy 100” bourbon was created in partnership with Maker’s Mark® to honor the Zehnder family’s long-time matriarch, Dorothy Zehnder. This is the Restaurant’s second partnership with Maker’s Mark®, the first being the Bavarian Inn Private Selection Bourbon created two years ago.

Maker’s Mark® began with one family’s quest to create a bourbon they enjoyed drinking and sharing with friends. That’s hardly revolutionary today, but in 1953 it changed an industry. Bill Samuels Sr.’s quest to create Maker’s Mark® began with his only copy of the family’s trusted 170-year-old recipe. The sixth-generation distiller promptly set this recipe on fire and started from scratch with a wheated mash bill that focused on a smooth flavor profile that “wouldn’t blow your ears off.”

The Bavarian Inn Restaurant will be releasing this bourbon during a special, sold-out dinner on March 4. This delightful bourbon-influenced evening begins at 6:30 p.m. and includes a five-course menu by Silver Plate Award Winner Chef Phil Fahrenbruch, accompanied by a variety of Maker’s Mark® barrel-age bourbons.

After the dinner, guests will still be able to taste the “Legacy 100” bourbon at both the Bavarian Inn Restaurant and the Bavarian Inn Lodge at the Lorelei Lounge.
